Top 5 Marketing Trends for 2019

Top 5 Marketing Trends We See Emerging in 2019

Like the heady worlds of food and fashion, the communications industry is constantly on the watch for the next big thing; the latest marketing trend or tool to keep your brand not just relevant, but continuously leading the field. While #selfiestations have certainly had their moment, exciting new concepts are emerging in marketing campaigns across the country.

With the power of social continuing to rise, brands and influencers alike are increasingly looking to video to increase authentic connections with their audiences. While Snapchat is on the out (thanks Kylie Jenner) insta-stories and embedded videos are increasingly being used to deliver exclusive footage and material to audiences that really resonate.

While on the subject of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, brands are realising that there is not always power in numbers when it comes to ROI. While a mass-influencer with 1m+ followers can revolutionise sales, they generally do so at great cost. Micro-influencers on the other hand (5,000 to 35,000 followers) often have a much higher level of engagement and are far more cost-effective. The key here is to do your research or work with an agency that can deliver a multi-layered strategy that incorporates several tiers of carefully curated talent.

If 2018 showed that a big guest list and endless canapés were no longer enough to ensure event success, 2019 is proving that a unique experience is key to keeping people talking. From artists live drawing (think Kerrie Hess) to flash mob dances and private performances by the Australian Opera, one-off money can’t (usually!) buy experiences are where it’s at.

To the world of PR and it’s once again all about the custom solution. The thought that any good publicist would be caught sending out a generic email to their entire database is laughable. Custom pitches to individual media organisations is where it’s at and even customising to individual journos within the same organisation is a smart move – though it’s always advisable to let them know if you’re doing this!

What do you get when you mix four high-profile influencers Nadia Fairfax, Caroline Tran, Deborah Symond O’Neil, and Kristin Fisher, an incredible fashion brand, an on-trend eatery, a fabulous brow bar and a feel-good Christmas vibe into one short, sharp video? Amazing content for the new #MonGuerlain perfume. That’s what. An incredible multi-tiered brand collaboration that deserves applause.
