Every Aussie Tween Girl Now Has A New Home
Let’s play a little game...
Imagine a plumber.
Now think of a pilot.
And what about a surgeon?
Now imagine them all as female.
If your brain had initially leapt to a variety of manly men, (with at least one sporting a very impressive moustache), that’s okay. Currently in Australia, just 1% of plumbers and 13% of surgeons are female, so it’s understandable if your head went in that direction.
But why is this? Well, as women make equally good (if not better) plumbers and surgeons, there is literally no reason beyond being influenced by the traditional stereotypes.
Sad but true? Yep. So how do we change that?
We start with challenging the stereotype.
At Franc.World our mission is to build Australia’s largest multimedia platform dedicated to showcasing educational opportunities and all career paths. We want to empower every Australian girl to reach her full potential, to help eliminate career-based gender stereotypes and to create a truly equitable, inclusive and prosperous society for all.

Franc.World is run by co-founders and sisters, Annika Launay and Briana Cicchelli and 12-year-old Francesca (Franc), who is the presenter on Franc’s Cool Jobs .
“With three daughters between us (including Francesca!), we know firsthand the difference education can make in a girls’ life,” says Annika. “To us it’s so important that we support all girls and as many knowledge streams as possible. Education really is the key.”
The first Franc.World award will open later this year, giving every Australian tween girl the chance to showcase her amazing talents, whether it be in art, literacy, STEM or entrepreneurship, the latter of which, Francesca is fully embracing.
